What to Expect

At your first physical therapy visit you will be asked to tell us about your problem and write down how it limits your daily life. You will be asked to rate your pain level and mark where your symptoms are on a body diagram. This helps us understand how to help you. Your physical therapist will do a thorough physical exam to determine the best treatment. A written report, or initial care plan, will be sent to your referring physician or health care provider. Treatment following evaluation may include manual therapy skills, exercise, functional activities, and self-management education.

New Women’s Health Clients

A physical examination for pelvic floor muscle disorders includes palpation of the muscles to assure proper contraction and muscle coordination. If you are uncomfortable with this you may choose not to be examined, but the success of your treatment will be limited. Please feel welcome to bring someone with you to your appointment if that makes you more comfortable.
